Envisioned a future where people can swap pot.

Making a long story short:

The Beginning

I was born on December 29th, 1973, — I think it was in a hospital... or maybe a bathtub? No wait, definitely a hospital. Hehe. I was named Andy (Andrew), I was born and raised in Humboldt County, California, home of the Redwoods, where the trees are HUGE, the fog is thick and the pot is legendary.

I was practically born with a joint in my mouth — figuratively speaking, of course (though no one's found any photos to prove otherwise). With family in the growing game, cannabis has always just been... there. Like air.

The Thought

One day — or night, or morning, who knows heh — I was scrolling a site that helped people find medical growers nearby. And I thought to myself: "Wouldn't it be cool if I could find someone to trade my stash with? Like... strain for strain?" And then that thought got stoned and wandered off for a while.

Years Before

In 2012, I started growing my own cannabis for medicinal use. I connected with other growers — people like me who just wanted to share their homegrown with fellow growers. Harvest time was our version of show-and-tell. We'd swap pot, swap tips, and pretend to be experts while secretly hoping someone liked your crop better than theirs.

The Year Before

Fast forward to 2017 — the year of the Great Eclipse. A fellow grower buddy looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Dude... you should make a site where people can swap their pot.” That thought was tucked away in the back of my mind and I knew some HTML, PHP, and graphic design, but building a whole platform? That felt a little... ambitious. So I tucked the idea away. But it stuck around in the back of my mind, like that one nug you can’t find after you drop it on the carpet.

The Day

September 2018. The day the thought became more realistic. Oregon had legalized cannabis along with several other states and countys, and weed-centric social networks were popping up like dispensaries on every corner. I thought, “What if I make a social site for swapping pot? Like... Facebook, but for pot?”

I brainstormed names. "PotSwap.com" was taken (dang it). ".net" didn't feel right. And then it hit me — PotSwap.club. Because it's not just a platform. It's a club, man. I bought the domain, put together a site that was similar to Facebook (because let’s be honest, we all know how to use Facebook), and got to work. PotSwap.club was born. Then... 2019 happened.

The Dark Times (Aka COVID)

Right when I started getting momentum, COVID showed up and shut everything down. People weren’t trying to meet strangers to swap pot during a global plague. “Stay home, save lives.” So I pressed pause. PotSwap.club went into hibernation. To be contnued....

The Near Future

In 2025, I decided to pursue building a better platform? I rolled that thought around like a fresh joint. Then I lit it.

The Present

Sometime in 2025, probably while staring into the computer screen and overthinking things, I decided to revive my vision. PotSwap.club felt like yesterday’s strain. I needed a new name. Something simple, direct and available. SwapPot.com.

Boom. SWAP POT was born. A fresh name, a clearer vision, and a smarter approach. Now I’m building a simple but complex platform where people can swap their pot, meet like-minded folks, and keep the spirit of cannabis culture alive — one swap at a time.

The End... Or Is It? Nah, not really the end. Just a new beginning, and the journey’s just getting started. So roll one, light up, and join the club,.. No, I mean... swappot.com. Let’s swap some pot.

I'm not trying to make money. I'm not getting any younger, this has been a passion of mine.
